Why AI Ignores Most Websites

AI answer engines — ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews — do not read your website the way a human does. They parse structured data. When a user asks “Who is the best SEO agency in Clearwater?” the AI queries its knowledge graph, not your homepage copy. If your entity is not in the graph, you do not exist in the answer.

The vast majority of websites have either no schema markup, or fragmented schema that creates conflicting entity signals. Both conditions result in the same outcome: the AI cannot confidently identify the business, so it does not cite it. This is what Anthony James Peacock calls “Structural Decay” — the invisible erosion of digital identity that makes businesses disappear from AI-era search.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is schema markup and why does it matter for AI visibility?+

Schema markup is structured JSON-LD code that tells AI systems and search engines exactly what your business is, who owns it, and what it does. Without it, AI answer engines like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Google AI Overviews cannot reliably identify or cite your business. With a full @graph schema stack, your entity becomes machine-legible and eligible for Knowledge Graph entry.

What schema types does LinkDaddy implement?+

LinkDaddy implements Organization, Person, WebSite, WebPage, Service, BreadcrumbList, FAQPage, Article, BlogPosting, ImageObject, and LocalBusiness schema types, all connected in a single @graph array with consistent @id anchors and Wikidata sameAs links for maximum entity salience.

How long does schema markup implementation take?+

A full @graph schema stack implementation for a standard business website typically takes 3-5 business days. This includes entity research, Wikidata cross-referencing, schema authoring, validation, and deployment. Knowledge Graph entry can take 4-12 weeks after implementation as Google processes the new entity signals.
